The City has added several common plastics to its “allowed” list for blue-box collection.  The new items are as follows:

Plastics Recyclable

  • All food and household plastics containers # 1 to7
  • (take-out containers, bakery and produce containers (clam shells)
  • Pails (remove metal handle)
  • Planting trays
  • Flower pots
  • Single serve yogurt containers
  • Clear plastic egg cartons

On February 2, the City of Ottawa’s Forestry Services staff began removing trees infested with the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) as part of its ongoing EAB management strategy. 

The first trees were removed from a property on Claude Avenue.

Further tree removal will take place at locations in wards 11 (Beacon Hill-Cyrville), 13 (Rideau Rockcliffe), 16 (River) and 18 (Alta Vista).

Join in the winter fun, and come skating at our community rink in Combermere Park (on the lower level).

We have two sheets of ice -1 with boards and nets for hockey, and 1 without boards for all other skating.  Both ice sheets are built and maintained by the City. Lights are on from dusk until approximately 10pm. The 12th Annual Community BBQ – Potluck Picnic was held on Saturday afternoon at Combermere Park.

Despite a very rainy morning and a gloomy mid-day, the weather was perfect for the late-afternoon event. It was difficult to accurately count participants—there were so many children that we couldn’t keep track of them all!  We believe that over 90 people attended.
