Spongy moth egg masses have been found on trees in our neighbourhood.

Formerly known as gypsy moths, these highly destructive and invasive pests pose a significant threat to trees and resulted in much egg-scraping, caterpillar removal and ultimately moth-trapping during spring and summer 2021.

Rothwell Heights residents will soon have local access to professionally groomed trails for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fat-biking and walking.

For the first time, Ski Heritage East is extending its winter trail west to Blair Road. The Trail follows the banks of the Ottawa River on a beautiful, winding route covering some 30 km to Trim Road in the east, with six trailheads along the way providing easy access.

As part of its emerald ash borer managenemt strategy, the National Capital Commission (NCC) will be removing 61 ash trees affected by the emerald ash borer in four areas along the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway, between Shefford Road and Massey Lane, east of Blair.

The work will take place from Monday, December 21 to Thursday, December 24 between 7am and 5pm, weather permitting.  No Parkway, pathway or road closures will be required.

Montréal Road wil be closed to all traffic at the Highway 174 interchange next weekend while bridges are dismantled to make way for the future Montréal Station.  The closure begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, 4 December and continues to 5 a.m. on Monday, 7 December. Traffic on Highway 174 in either direction will not be affected during this time.

Just in time for summer, the Blair Road Boat Launch has reopened after completion of a major upgrade and improvement project which began in fall 2019.

The original boat ramp now has been replaced by a permanent concrete infrastructure for enhnaced safety.  Sight lines and visibility for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians using the parking lot and multi-use pathway have also been improved.
